How to Play

Malas is a game of social deduction. You are encouraged to deceive, strategize and keep your cards close to your chest. Suspicion weighs upon the residents of Sta. Anna, may you let it drive you.

The game has three competing factions:

Taumbayan WIN

When all Halimaw are eliminated

LOSE

When all Taumbayan are eliminated

Halimaw WIN

When one or more survive by the vote of the seventh day.

OR

When members of all other factions are eliminated.

LOSE

When all Halimaw are eliminated

Natatangi WIN

When all Halimaw are eliminated

LOSE

When eliminated

Set-up
  • 1. 6-12 players required
  • 2. The players must decide amongst themselves and declare who shall be the Babaylan.
  • 3. The Babaylan randomly assigns each player to at least one of the following roles: The Babaylan, the Mangangaso, the Taumbayan, and the Halimaw.
    • For a game of six players:
      – 1 Babaylan
      – 1 Halimaw
      – 1 Mangangaso
      – 3 Taumbayan
      For every 3 players, an additional Halimaw is assigned. At 12 players, the Principalia is assigned.
  • 4. The game may have two of each role. With the exception of the Natatangi (Babaylan, Mangangaso & Principalia).
  • Assign Roles (Juan, Anna, Janmarie, ...)

  • The game spans for 7 Days and alternates between the Day and Night time.
  • The game starts with a 2-minute discussion time before the first night.
  • The game ends on the following conditions:


    • 1. Upon the 7th Day’s voting period.
      2. Upon elimination of all monsters.
      3. Upon the death of all villagers.
